Online event (29 June - 1 July 2021)

The ICRER online event was a great success; there were many excellent and thought-provoking presentations on all topics; around 450 registered participants from all continents took part; and many stimulating questions were received, which were answered during or soon after the event.

The event provided a preview of some of the key topical issues that will be explored in more detail at the physical conference in September 2022. These issues include: environmental levels and assessments related to the Fukushima Daiichi accident in 2011; key developments related to application of radioecology for radiation protection, notably related to decommissioning and the management of nuclear and other legacies; public engagement and risk communication; and key projects undertaken by cooperating organizations. The final programme of the event is still available here for ease of reference.

A number of key messages were identified during the event, which were summarized during the closing session. The slides from that presentation are available here. A short report on the event is being prepared and will be available in due course. The report and other outcomes of the event will feed into plans for the conference in September 2022.
